About Me

Carina K is an incredible singer with a strong passion for all forms of music. She is trained classically in Opera and Broadway, but her commercial efforts are strongly rooted primarily in the Pop/Rock genres. Rather than glumly waiting around to be ‘discovered’, she ‘discovered’ herself, embracing being an independent Artist, and finds great satisfaction in being involved with EVERY aspect of music making and performance. She is an unstoppable force rising up in the music scene and will be the first huge independent success.

Carina was born in Europe, in a picturesque small town in Poland near the German border. After having her amazingly talented father in her life for only a few years, he passed away in a tragic car accident. She and her mother moved to New York and she spent her formative years there as a curious, and creative child. Her teachers in choir at school saw potential in her voice and encouraged her, but Carina didn’t see anything special in her voice, if she could sing so easily, it must be no big deal, right?

During her young life while being home-schooled, Carina travelled to many countries around the world and speaks fluent Polish as a 2nd language and bits of several other languages. After a lot of traveling back and forth between Europe and the USA, Carina’s mother remarried, and soon after Carina got a baby brother! The family then moved to Florida.

Carina is a woman of many passions: singing, dancing, writing, drawing, technology, skiing, and cooking to name but a few, and she is exceptionally talented in any one of them. Even though she has never pursued most of them as a means of work, she is often commissioned to create original artwork for companies and portraits for people. She draws and paints with many techniques, from stylized comic book/manga to realistic portraits. A gift she inherited from her father who drew with incredible realism.

Carina was a successful model for a short time, as well as a small business owner but never felt like she was answering her calling. She wanted to make her mark on the world in another way…

She took a long look at her life and wanted to follow one of her passions, her music. It was not an easy decision, as there would have to be a lot of sacrifice to make it happen.

In her own words:

“This is a true story! I almost never go to Fort Lauderdale, but I went a few years ago to the Princess Diana exhibit at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, and because Diana was always such an inspiration to me it made me think a lot about my life: I was working a job and getting by, had health care and all that, but hated my job. I was walking towards the museum and there is this neatly manicured grassy area in front of it and off to the right there was a huge beautiful butterfly shaped condo building going up, right on the water. And I thought, wow, I wish I could live in someplace like that, right in the middle of everything that’s going on. And it hit me like a ton of bricks, that with my job, I would NEVER be able to have that, and I was basically just spinning my wheels and getting by. I decided then and there that I wanted to sing, not just as a hobby but as a career. Even if it meant going without and sacrificing everything in the meantime to make it happen; Even if it meant that I would never make a dime, at least I would be doing something that I LOVE. I told my brother that within a couple of years I was going to make my dream come true.

I forgot all about that epiphany soon after, because I was so busy doing it! I spent the next year and a few months doing research on every aspect of the ever changing music industry, learning how to write songs, proper breathing techniques, vocal lessons, how to read sheet music and play piano, I recorded thelittle demosthat are on the site right now in my closet at home, I made some contacts with people, while traveling to the music hotspots, LA, Vegas, NY, and Miami. Even though it was hard work, it was a great time!! I searched high and low for a producer that had the same sensibilities as I do when it comes to music and found its shark filled water! Lots of people that will take your money but didn’t have passion for the music they were creating.

I finally stumbled on Pete Masitti who happens to be in Fort Lauderdale, and liked his style! We decided to collaborate and spent about 6 months working on the music. Now I live quite a bit north of Fort Lauderdale so on the final trip to record the last vocals for my CD I got a hotel downtown, so that I could work two days without so many hours driving, and when I was all done I went back to my room, feeling so incredibly accomplished, the vocal work for my first CD was finished. I went to dinner that evening and it was such a beautiful night that I walked around the area and randomly found myself looking at that grassy area in front of the museum and the condos again. The memories flooded back in to my mind with such intensity that I could barely stand. I seriously wanted to faint. I hadn’t thought of that day two years earlier since it had happened, but I had made my dream come true, and was there, full circle, standing on the cusp of something huge knowing that what happens next is in my hands to make or break, and just like 2 years earlier, I knew that I would do it!”

Because of her research in the music industry she has determined it’s best to go it alone and do things independently of the record labels. There has yet to be a ‘Britney’ or ‘Christina’ sized success story that is Independent, but Carina Is determined to be it! Although she will need your help to do so!! So please consider volunteering to help! Even though she is one of the most popular people on Twitter, everyone there knows Carina is always there to talk directly to her friends and help out in any way she can. So if you want to help, just let her know! She would love to hear from you! She is happy to have such great supportive friends and cherishes each and every one of them!

Carina is currently putting the finishing touches on her full length debut CD (winter 2009) and preparing for a world tour to support and promote it. Response from her first single ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ has been overwhelmingly positive!
